The hot springs of Hamat Gader have been used for therapeutic purposes for over 2000 years. This is the old section and it was used in antiquity for around 800 years. The Romans chose this site as the ideal establishment of the thermal baths, the second largest in the Roman Empire.
They were famous for their curative powers due to the waters wealth and minerals. In the 9th Century, they fell into this use, but have been revived since the team of archeologist began excavation in 1979. The thermal waters are now piped to other areas. These hot springs that were discovered 2000 years ago are once again sought after with their promise to renew a bather’s health and youthful vigor.
