Shopping in Nantucket Looms

Female: I've always wanted a blanket from the Nantucket Looms.

Ryan: They actually do some of the weaving on site, don’t they?

Female: They do it all upstairs.

Ryan: Oh, wow.

Female1: Hi, how are you? Thanks for coming in. Hi, Ryan. It's nice to see
you.

Ryan: Nice to see you. Thanks but we’re sort of walking around looking
for couple special gifts and we’re hoping maybe you could show
us around the looms and some of your specialties.

Stephanie: Sure, I’d love too. We’re sort of known for our throws obviously.
We have our weaving studio upstairs, everything is fun right here.
And this is a cotton throw and all our throws are woven four by
seven feet.

Female2: It's incredible, what the looms can do with fabric. We just had to
see where they make these wonderful throws, so we headed
upstairs to find Becky hard at work. It's truly a unique experience
to see the looms in action.

Ryan: Stephanie, thanks so much for showing us around, it's really
wonderful. I think we’re going to go pop over and see Liz up on
the new store in Main Street, so maybe you can hold on to that for
a little bit.

Stephanie: I’d be happy to.

Female1: Welcome to 35 Main Street.

Ryan: Thank you, we just had a very nice visit with Stephanie over on
Federal Street and wanted to pop over here and say hi to you. And
hope that you could tell us a little bit more about the history of
looms.

Female1: Well in 1968, Nantucket Looms started and we were originally
down on Main Street where Polo Ralph Lauren is now located. It
was actually started by two gentlemen, Nill Euler and Andy Oates.
They were production hand weavers, the looms are actually still
working just at Federal Street where we just brought the product
up here. And we have a great second floor which we have devoted
to pretty much the design part of the Nantucket Looms.

So now we have two locations, a little interesting in this economy
but we’re going for it.

Female: They have some beautiful things in there.

Ryan: They do.
