Tips for Fishing in the Water

Silver Creek looks like a very shallow river for the most part. But a lot of times, the mud that you're looking at or the bottom that you're looking at is not a solid bottom. You can't tell until you put your foot in it. So you don’t want to over commit when you're getting into this river and when you're getting out of this river. Come to the edge of the bank, drop to one knee, throw your leg over and you slowly will sink in. Go find the bottom and then you can drop your other foot in and you're ready to wait out into the river.

What you don’t want to do is take a step off of this ledge, thinking you're stepping on to a hard bottom, sink two feet into the mud and come face first to the river. You can ruin a perfectly good day doing that. So when you're getting out, it's pretty much a similar technique. I'm going to take my knee and I'm going to throw it up on to the bank first, maybe grab my handful of grass, pull my other boot, give it a rinse and I'm back out of the water for this week’s tips and tactics.
