(Image source:  Mashable ) BY JAMAL ANDRESS   It’s been one year since Mark Zuckerberg rang NASDAQ’s opening bell. Since then, the company has made big strides toward mobile ad revenue but suffered a lackluster stock price. Here’s a look back at the year since Facebook became the third biggest IPO in history. The company was valued at $104 billion, 100 times its revenue,  and the stock debuted at $38 per share, almost 100 times more than Google ’ s IPO eight years earlier. (Via The Telegraph ) Throughout the day, the stock price jumped to $43 and then came back down, finishing up right where it started at $38 a share. But Facebook would never see those numbers again. Facebook’s stock price plummeted throughout 2012, going as low as $17. According to CNN , “concern about Facebook's late entrance into the mobile ad market was the main reason the stock never recovered.” In Zuckerberg’s first interview after the company went public, he spoke to that very problem. “I think the big question that is on everyone’s minds that will determine at least our performance over that period is really gonna be how well we do with mobile.”   (Via YouTube / Jeffrey Powers ) Zuckerberg pledged to refocus the company on mobile, and despite the lack of enthusiasm for Facebook Home, The Wall Street Journal reports Zuckerberg made good on that promise. “ ... new posters began appearing at the headquarters of Facebook Inc. The posters proclaimed: ‘Advertisers are users too.’ … Facebook has pushed revenue up its priority list and restructured its business so that many of its best minds are now thinking about driving sales ... ” And it seems, at least on the mobile front, those minds are making a difference. In 2011 Facebook had 288 million mobile users. Today? 751 million, which adds up to a 161 percent increase. And what’s more important than more users is how Facebook is capitalizing on those users. “Last quarter, 30% of Facebook’s ad revenue came from mobile devices, up from 23% during the previous quarter and 14% the quarter before that. In the first quarter of 2012, Facebook’s mobile revenue constituted 0% of its total revenue.” (Via Time ) But even with these impressive numbers in mobile revenue, the stock price is still 30 percent below where they started a year ago, closing Friday at $26.
