The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY introduced the public to a baby elephant that was born on Mother's Day. The boy, an Asian elephant, weighs nearly 300 pounds and walked into the exercise yard with his mother, and aunts - in front of a crowd of more than 200 people. The elephant was born May 12. The zoo is having a contest to name him. Asian elephants are endangered. The zoo says there are currently about 35,000 in the wild.
