Amy Sedaris shares her recipe for a party cheese ball with Paula.
Amy Sedaris: Yeah, let’s make a cheese ball.
Paula: Okay and let’s make a cheese ball.
Amy Sedaris: Okay. First thing you’re going to do is you’re going to take eight ounces of cream cheese.
Paula: Yeah.
Amy Sedaris: Okay.
Paula: This is Amy’s book. I like You by Amy Sedaris, Hospitality under the influence. This is cute.
Amy Sedaris: Weakness.
Paula: Look at this chapter. Entertaining the Elderly, look in big letters.
Amy Sedaris: You can read it on back there.
Paula: Ain’t that cute? Alright so keep making. I’m reading.
Amy Sedaris: So, I’m just curious, what kind of cream cheese do you like?
Paula: I like the real stuff.
Amy Sedaris: Me too. So, we’re going take eight ounces of cream cheese. You just relax. I’ll do it. Okay. We’re going to take about three strips of bacon. We’re going to crumble it up like so.
Paula: Yeah, like so.
Amy Sedaris: Put it in there. We’re going to add half of cup of mayonnaise
Paula: Good mayonnaise is you know I love it all.
Amy Sedaris: Yeah. I like it on cheddar cheese. Okay. You’re going to add some green onions. You’re going to add some dill.
Paula: This is like the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Amy Sedaris: Salt and pepper. Oh, thank you very much. I shot it all in my apartment.
Paula: Did you really?
Amy Sedaris: Yup, yup. In this summer which is why some of the food is fake. It was just too hard to cook, too hard. I couldn’t do it.
Paula: You all have to pick up this book. It’s just cutest—
Amy Sedaris: Thank you. And it’s got some real tips in it, does it Amy?
Amy Sedaris: Yeah. I took it seriously. I did it although it is entertaining.
Paula: Alright, put down that spatula and—
Amy Sedaris: And do it in my hands? Okay. So then, we’re going to form the ball.
Paula: Keep your cream cheese at room temperature so it’ll blend easily with all of your ingredients.
Amy Sedaris: Then you’re going to form like a little pine cone.
Paula: Yes.
Amy Sedaris: Nowm we’re going to—I’ll show you up in here. You’re going to decorate it with these almonds.
Paula: Oh my God. Ain’t it good?
Amy Sedaris: It’s actually disgusting.
Paula: Ain’t it delicious?
Amy Sedaris: You did a good job for me in that one nut.
Paula: Thank you but I’ve done balls before—
Amy Sedaris: You have. I’m sure have.
Paula: This ain’t my first ball. You all toast in the almonds that’ll help enhance and bring out their flavor.
So, a little rosemary right here?
Amy Sedaris: Yeah. Just to make it look like a pinecone.
Paula: I need some scissors.
Amy Sedaris: I’m going to use my witchcraft right here and then as you see, this is what it’s going to look like. Gorgeous, so many flavors and then you can chase it with some meat. Oh my God.
