Japan debuts Hello Kitty melons. You can count on the Japanese to come up with an unusual twist on twist on things, and this covers everything from robots to food. The country’s newest iteration of oddly cultivated fruit is a cantaloupe with an imprint of Hello Kitty on the exterior.The produce is currently being sold by a gourmet food specialty shop. They will remain on sale for a little under $50 until July 31st on a limited basis as only 300 are available. Japan is home to square watermelons as well. The technique to make them boxy is not that complicated.While the fruit is growing, it's placed inside a glass case. The privilege to eat these square beauties does come at a hefty price though - they can cost more than $75. China also tried its hand in this arena and fruit growers grew pears in the form of adorable little children. Called 'Lucky Baby Pears', they showcased chubby infant faces but unfortunately, not many people bought them.
