Audra: We think about neutrals. Usually a lot of people think blah, huh, but this season there are new options in both the fashion and the makeup counter world. Melissa Goldstein is here, she is the Senior Beauty Editor of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Melissa is going to show us how we can incorporate the shades of neutral into our beauty routine and not everybody thinks they can wear neutrals, right?

Melissa Goldstein: They don’t, they don’t. Up until now we've always thought of neutrals as being this—you know we want to look great but we don’t want to look like we’re wearing a lot of makeup. What we’re seeing this season’s what we’re calling the new neutrals. And basically were going to incorporate some color into our routine without having color.

Audra: Is it that less is more, kind of thing?

Melissa Goldstein: It is really is, its very silent but the lovely thing about this colors are they're ageless, they're season less, they're going to make you look better but without people thinking that you really just loading up on lots of color.

Audra: Okay, so let's start over here. These are obviously some neutrals and then you got some champagne mixed in there as well too, so let's start off with the first product.

Melissa Goldstein: Absolutely, basically this new neutrals are anywhere that you would put a black, a white, a gray something like that. You want to instill this instead that you can wear them all over your face, eyes, cheeks, lips, nails, whatever. There really are no rules with this.

Audra: Okay.

Melissa Goldstein: We’re looking at the champagne color first, now champagne kind of expands the—what you're looking for something with a little bit of an apricot tinge to it, you know, it has that really warm color to it similar to if you were going to be in the candle light glow, which is the most flattering light. So champagnes are really easy to wear, you can wear them anywhere we have to think something like the Estee Lauder eye shadow quad. Now here you can get a couple of different versions of this very simple champagne.

Audra: I love those colors, it’s gorgeous.

Melissa Goldstein: They're really super flattering you can't go wrong with it. Boots No7 has a really wonderful lip-glossy its—I think the color is angel cake but again really got a little boost of color, you can wear those for something you normally have or just wear it on its own. Nail polish wise, we've got SC nail color in champagne and as well a highlighter. I can't say enough about highlighter, I think every woman needs to wear it all the time.

Audra: Yeah.

Melissa Goldstein: Up high on your cheekbones it gives you that dewy look not sweaty just dewy.

Audra: That’s the difference.

Melissa Goldstein: And you wear it really high on your cheekbones and it just makes you look a little bit younger and a little bit more awakened, I mean we all need that.

Audra: Exactly, that is a good thing. Okay, let's talked about the lavender colors here. You say, you have a little coat like it’s not old ladyish anymore.

Melissa Goldstein: Lavender is not old lady, lavender is flirty, it’s daring and you know what, it really is a great choice especially if you’ve got pale skin or if you're blond or green eyes. Lavender is a great choice for you.

Audra: For everyone though is this is a good color for everyone?

Melissa Goldstein: There’s lavender for everyone. If you really don’t think you can wear lavender then you go more of a purple gray. You can up the tone a little bit it doesn’t have to be as pale. But lavender pair is beautiful with grays, with blacks, with silvers. If that’s the pallet of colors you normally wear, you love silver jewelry this is a great option for you.

Audra: Okay.

Melissa Goldstein: This Givenchy Prisme eye compact, I love this one. It has nine different colors. Each one is made up of three different colors. So it really gives you a lot of different options. O.P.I nail polish this is Done Out in Deco.

Audra: I’ve never think to wear purple.

Melissa Goldstein: But it’s so pretty and it’s so fun. I mean we’re all stepping at the rare box with nail color, why not try purple. If you don’t like it you take it off.

Audra: Exactly.

Melissa Goldstein: Purple eyeliner, this is one of my great secrets. I‘ve been wearing purple eyeliner for a year. It’s amazing if you have a green eyes or blue eyes. Again, you would never know the look that I have purple eyeliner on it. It looks like a brown or a black, it’s a dark color but it really makes eyes pop.

Audra: Can I ask about these colors here because we just have a seconds left.

Melissa Goldstein: Absolutely.

Audra: What about the blushes, the pinks, I love this color here. This is a blush right?

Melissa Goldstein: It is.

Audra: Okay.

Melissa Goldstein: This is—we’re calling this blush Pink and basically the idea is it’s not an intense pink, it just gives you that really healthy English rose blush like you just came in from the cold. Again, not too obvious but really just lights up your whole face.

Audra: And in this here obviously a little tinge of pink but it’s nude still right?

Melissa Goldstein: Exactly.

Audra: And why are they doing this on the runways is it because they want the less is more look is that why were saying it?

Melissa Goldstein: Absolutely, we’re seeing it in the fashion as well. It’s really just a fresh way to look current and as well just not to feel like were so bugged down in dark colors.

Audra: Exactly, bugged down with so much house, not the makeup. Thank you very much Melissa.
