Windows 7 Taskbar Shortcuts
Welcome to Tekzilla daily I’m Veronica Belmont. Along with the revamped UI, Windows 7 comes a whole salute of new shortcuts and here with Dean went in to tell us about a few of them.
He writes, “If you’ve got one instance of a program running and have a need of a second, you could of course simple hit the Windows key and type the name again or you can hold the shift key and click the existing icon on the taskbar to launch a second instance of that application”. He probably discovered a little vertical bar to the right of the system clock. If you hover over it, Windows 7, aero 0:36 peeks at the desktop by turning visible Windows into a transparent border and clicking it will minimize everything. This very useful trick can also be accessed from the keyboard by holding Windows plus space.
Thanks Dean and to add to that. Here are a few more taskbar tricks. Holding CTRL shift as you click on a taskbar button will open the apps as an administrator. Pressing shift as you right click on a taskbar button will show the Window menu for that program.
If you hold shift as you right click on a grouped taskbar button, you’ll see the window menu for that group. And finally, CTRL clicking on a group taskbar button will cycle through the Windows of the group.
Hope this helps speed up your Windows 7 work flow and if you found a cool Windows 7 tip or trick that you want to share, e-mail us at Tekzilla@revision3.com and don’t forget tekzilla.com It’s the place to find more tips, tricks, product reviews, and how to’s.
