Learn how to insert Tables in Microsoft Office Word.
Okay, now we are ready to start inserting some tables. So let us scroll down in our document. We have a specific spot where we want to put our tables just above the additional resources section. And, just like when we are working with graphics, I am going to give myself a little bit of room to work with here and underneath my Insert tab. I am going to find my Tables button here that will give me a pull down here. Now, in Word 2007, there are several ways to insert tables here. The easiest way is to use my drag boxes here. You see that live preview there? It is showing me how my table is going to appear on my page. So I can certainly use that approach or I could choose Insert Table. It will give me a dialog box here or underneath my Table drop down menu, I can choose Draw Table which was available back in previous version of Word.
Now, I am going to keep things simple here and I am going to use my drag boxes here and I want to create a table that is three columns by five rows and just single click to drop that in. Notice that you get some contextual tabs up at the top which we will get to in just a moment. But first, we have to insert some content into our table. So, inside the first cell of my table here, I am going to type in "Browser Name" and I am going to click inside the next cell on my table and I will type in "Operating System" and in my last cell on my first row, I will type in "Where to get it."
Now, I want to move down to the next cell which is underneath Browser Name. I could single click with my mouse but you may find it easier just to use your tab key. In fact, you can use tab to move forward in you table and shift tab to move backwards on your table. So you might find that easiest as you are entering in data into your tables. So underneath Browser Name, I am going to type in "Internet Explorer 7" and tab to drop me underneath Operating System and I will type in "Windows" and tab and that is "Available at Microsoft.com" and tab again. Our next Browser if "Firefox," tab again. That is available for both "Windows and Macs" tab again and this is available at "Getfirefox.com." We are almost done here. "Safari" and tab, "Mac" and that is available at "Apple.com." Tab again and our last Browser is “Event," tab, "Windows" and that is available at "Avantbrowser.com."
