William Shatner on 'Better Late Than Never': Get It Done Now ( 02:22 )

VIDEO DESCRIPTION:

You know you’ve said it: “Better late than never.” The phrase is said to have first been committed to print by Geoffrey Chaucer, “The Father of English Literature,” in 1386. Now in 2016, the proverb has new meaning and a new life on screen, the title of a late-summer entry from NBC that’s been labeled part travel and part unscripted comedy. The "Better Late Than Never" star line-up includes Terry Bradshaw, 67, William Shatner, 85, Henry Winkler, 70 and George Foreman, also 67, along with comedian Jeff Dye—who’s definitely not a day over 60. He’s 33, in fact. The whole gang takes a tour throughout Asia and they’re “on their own,” with none of their “people” at their beck and call. They want an intimate outing and that’s exactly what they get in Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Phuket and Chiang Mai, where friendship becomes their new travel guide. Pre-departure Musings The elders shared their thoughts about the journey in these clever video clips prior to departure: Terry: “If they leave it up to me, I’m tellin’ you right now, we’re never gettin’ out of Asia.” Henry: “Adventure to me is going fromo my bedroom to the kitchen to get a piece of chocolate cake.” George: “I’m gonna’ eat my way through Asia.” William: “There’s something in me that won’t let go. I grasp on to my youth with fingernails now to hold on to…vestiges of the desire for adventure.” I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Shatner for Parade.com in late 2014, and he talked freely about his health, his horses, his daughters and a cause that really matters to him. In this brand new video interview from the NBC Universal Summer 2016 TCA Press Tour, he shares his take on the meaning of his new show and much more.
