On May 18, 2015 Jean Vanier was awarded this year’s Templeton Prize. The annual prize “honors a living person who has made an exceptional contribution to affirming life’s spiritual dimension.” Jean Vanier founded L’Arche in France in 1964 when he invited two men with intellectual disabilities to live with him in a “real home”. This created a revolutionary international network of communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together as peers.
