Four solar powered ferries have been put into service across Hong Kong’s harbor, in a bid to cut down on the city’s gas emissions. A dual solar and diesel system means that they can use the energy of the sun during the day, but switch to fuel at dusk, or at other times, like overly wet or overcast days. It is hoped that their use could mean that Hong Kong’s carbon dioxide output via transport is cut in half.
