Solar Power Ferries Used in Hong Kong
Four solar powered ferries have been put into service across Hong Kong’s harbor, in a bid to cut down on the city’s gas emissions. A dual solar and diesel system means that they can use the energy of the sun during the day, but switch to fuel at dusk, or at other times, like overly wet or overcast days. It is hoped that their use could mean that Hong Kong’s carbon dioxide output via transport is cut in half.

Intel Instals Solar Panels to Reduce Its Carbon Emission
Major industry has been blamed for much of the damage caused by carbon emissions. However, Intel, one of the world’s most prolific producers of computer CPU’s, has been doing its bit to reduce its own carbon footprint. The company has installed solar panels at its Arizona, California, Mexico and Oregon branches. It is hoped that this, along with other measures will cut up to 50% of its electricity usage.
